John graduated in 1981 from Birmingham University. He joined the practice as an Associate for the previous owner in August 1981, before becoming a partner in 1985. He joined Kendal Mountain rescue team in 1991 and was an active team member for 20years. In 2007 John was appointed honorary clinical tutor for Liverpool University.  John is passionate about the Lake District and enjoys fell running, walking and cycling.

Mr Andrew Smith

Andrew qualified from Newcastle Dental Hospital in 1984 where he gained the final year Operative Dental Surgery Prize. After Vocational Training and local Associateships he became a partner at this practice in 1990.

Andrew enjoys all aspects of General Dental Practice and has a particular interest in all ceramic restorations using the CEREC CAD CAM system. In 2007 he became involved in the training of Dental Therapists through Liverpool University as an Honorary Clinical Tutor.

Away from the surgery he enjoys spending time with his family, skiing and racing historic sports and Grand Prix cars.

Deborah Hall

Deborah qualified from Newcastle upon Tyne University in 1991 and moved over to the Lake District to complete her vocational training year at Tinn & Clough Windermere practice, gaining the area prize for end of year project.

Deborah then took a position in Carnforth with the Paul Davy practice and remained there until 2010, before taking her current position as an associate at Hall & Smith.

After moving to Kendal Deborah joined the Kendal judo club achieving her Black belt.

Since retiring from judo most of Deborah’s spare time has been occupied scuba diving with the Kendal & Lakes BSAC as an advanced diver & Open Water instructor, with a special interest in underwater photography.

Chris Chatham
Associate Dentist

Chris graduated from the University of Sheffield in June 2014 where he also completed an intercalated degree in 2012 during his dentistry course. He completed vocational training in the south lakes and then moved to Hall and Smith to begin his associate career. He has had an article published in the British Dental Journal concerning the use of CAD/CAM in dentistry and how it is taught at Universities.
In his spare time he enjoys running, cycling and his motorbike.
